Can anyone tell me the exact meanings and need of the terms-rms value, dc (avg) value & peak voltage

    RMS value = is the high value the system can manage for a long time D.C = is the type of eletricity Peak voltage = is the highest value of voltage system can acheive it lasts for a short time

    Peak value of a signal is the heighest magnitude that the signal attains during full cycle. RMS value stands for root mean square which is used only because it is the most convenient scale to show and measure power consumption dc(avarage) is the average value of signal in a compleate cycle. all these are meaning full only for variying signal. I mean for those signals whose amplitude changes with time. In case signal hav constant magnitude first 2 terms becomes equal to each other. (I hope third too )

    on a sineusoidal wave form (a.c) the peak voltage being at the top of the waveform, the rms term is the dc equivalent of ac usually 0.707 *ac voltage= dc rms hope this helps i'm only in first year of secondary school
