Are laptops safe anymore??

I am owning a Dell and hear about the Dell batteries recall. My battery isn't affected. However, is using Dell safe anymore? I am planning to get a new laptop. I am deciding between an Apple or a HP laptop. What do you think? If you own either an Apple or HP, can you tell me how it's like? Does it meet your satisfication? Thanks in advance.

    Laptops are still safe, don't let this one incident of exploding batteries kill your image of laptops. Recalls happen all the time. I am not a big fan of the Mac OS.

    I don't like the mac and truthfully your being a little over-worried about lap-tops. There perfrectly safe and of course the occasional wrong thing will happen every once in a while. Don't go with mac I have used one a big NO NO

    Ive herd good things about dell and HP and as far as being safe the only thing Ive ever herd about laptops is if a guy keeps it on his lap to long the heat from it can kill sperm cells.
