One more time. I want to add color to a greyscale image, i.e., eyes or lips or an object.?

I have Adobe Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro 8. I only use them to grayscale color images and to resize and I can make tranparencies as well. I need someone to tell me step by step or can direct me to a website that can tell me step by step. These are the only replies that will be of use to me. Thank you for your help in this matter.

    In photoshop: step one. Go to image//mode//and convert the image to RGB step two. using whatever selection tool you are comfortable with, select the areas you want to color. Choose for instance, the lips, using the lasso tool. step three. feather the selection. If the resolution is fairly high (240-300dpi) make the feather three or four points. Lower resolutions, 1 to 2 points of feathering. step four. go to the foreground color pallette and make it the color you want. step five. go to edit//fill (here you can do what you did in step 4, by choosing color from the fill options)//select the mode you want to use (I recommend overlay or multiply for the colorization of the selected area; this will leave the shape that is there and simply add the new color to it)... hit OK, and you are done. This is just one method of many.

    in photoshop first change the image mode from greyscale to RGB then use the pen tool to outline the area you want to fill with color. Then fill in the selection.

    In Paint Shop Pro, I am using version 6, look for the 'colors' menu. In this menu there should be a sub menu about 'Increase Color Depth Used'. Increase the color depth until you are able to add color to the picture. I opened a colored picture, and changed it to grayscale, the the 'grayscale' menu item in the 'colors' menu. After this, I changed the color depth to the maximum 24 bits, and then added color to the picture.

    If you already have the color image, duplicate the layer so you have two copies. On the bottom layer, adjust saturation to 0. This will make it black & white. On the top layer, erase everything you DON'T want to be in color. You can use the eraser tool (with feathered edges), or create a layer mask and eliminate those areas. (Make sure you select the layer mask box next to the link) Painting black will eliminate areas, white will bring them back. This is recommended so you can return the color portions if needed. Adjust layer transparency to subdue colors.
