What is a good, free, online image program?

2006-08-10 10:11:52, Category: Programming & Design
What is a good free image program that I can find online, and is easy to use? I want to make some graphics, but the regular MS paint isn't quite doing the job. I haven't downloaded the free trials for photoshop or anything yet, but I want to see if there's anything else out there first. By the way, my computer's a bit old, and I don't want an image program slowing it down to much. (Old as in built for windows NT and 98. Somehow, somebody got Windows Xp installed on it, which makes it even slower) By the way, my computer has 128 MB of RAM

I'd give GIMP a try. http://www.gimp.org/ It's a pretty powerful image editing program that is similar to an earlier version of Photoshop. The program is open source, so you can download it for free. The downside is you may have a few problems running it on the system you described: GIMP requires Windows 98/ME/NT4/2000/XP and 128 MB RAM. Eariler version which might run on your machine aren't supported anymore but you still might be able to find them if you hunt around a bit.

Check out The Gimp... it's Gnu's image application and according to some can be almost as powerful as Photoshop, if you know how to use it's macros, etc.

you can try paint shop pro. relatively low overhead. this doesn't use too much system resources. easy learning curve.

I guess this link would be a good place to start. It has several websites to design title graphics, buttons and banners and graphics optimizers. (By the way, with Gif Works I believe you have to pay now.) http://www.sabah.net.my/mybiz/peluang/indexgraphic.html As far as software, this link might help you out some. I'd recommend Image Forge, Serif PhotoPlus and Pixia. (I ran these ones on a 486 without too many problems, except for some lag of course! And they are smooth on our "old" Pentium.) http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/imageediting/tp/freephotoedw.htm
