   Asking the best is a tough question as many people have diffrent opinions, I like to use LIghtwave 3D or Maya, or after effects, all depends on what your wanting to do as to what the "best" software to use is.

   I recommend Blender-3D. The interface is terrifying, but with the help of a good manual you can get your first animation going in just hours.
