2006-08-09 11:19:26, Category: Programming & Design
I want to wipe my computer of everything. Programs, spyware, junk and other things. But i dont have any windows xp CD's or boot or partion CD's. Is there a way I could delete everything without deleting windows. Since reformating will delete windows. So in other words si there a way to delete all or reformat without having to delete windows? Or is there w way i could save my current OS on a disk and insert it after the reformation?

Hi Hanif, Try doing a system restore instead. Go to START MENU then PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then SYSTEM TOOLS. In system tools you will find system restore. You can try to restore your computer back to however long ago you want it to. You wont be able to format and wipe everything without a Windows CD or a recovery disk. Most computer companies sell recovery disks for only $10 so you might want to call them and ask them to send you one instead of spending $100+ on a Windows CD.

Without an installation OS CD you are going to run into problems. Mainly because there are problems with viruses and ad-aware infecting the windows and windows system folders. So, to answer your question specifically: No. It's impossible as there are always traces of files scattered throughout your folder structures. Even after an uninstall.
