I would especially appreciate direct comparison. And what about Borland JBuilder?

    NetBeans - Out of the box experience, tight plug-in pack (mobility, profiler (soon to be a visual web deisigner) integrations, pure cross platform Java (not IBM's toolkt), Matisse GUI builder which was the original in the market and free, etc.....

    I find Eclipse better, and I've used both IDEs. With Eclipse, you can download modules that allow support for different languages. I do my Java, C and C++ programming with it.
