First of all -- Disconnect the webcam by pulling out the usb connector from the USB port then after 30-60 seconds again connect and see if the cam powers on or not if not then the cam is faulty if yes then if you have windows 2000 or higher OS it will say new hartdware found and it will lead you through the installation process......like........ insert the installation CD ROM..... you can either look up the driver by browsing the CD from there Driver installation or you can let the driver installation find the driver itself then install the driver log in to the program whichever you ant to connect your cam with if the error comes again the your cam is not connected go to options and choose the source.... then if the source is not correct then choose the correct source if still it does not work properly then there is driver fault go to the manufacturer's websitre and download the latest/updated driver and install the new river and try the same thing again and i hope this all will work properly and hpe it helps u.....

Your webcam is most likely USB. Disconnect the webcam by pulling out the USB connector and wait about 30 seconds. Plug the USB connector back into the computer. If you are using Windows XP it should come up and say New Hardware Found. Then you might be prompted to put in your disk again for the drivers.

Hi if it is xp or windows 98 do one thing after installing the software u unplug the webcam from system and restart the system after the system got restarted then again plug in and it will show u as found a new device then just do next and install the driver or u can install the driver by clicking right button on my computer and in properties go in device manager where u will look yellow icon of web cam in other device just right click on it and go in properties and there click reinstall it and that time let it find automatic your driver and if it is not digitally signed then it will show you one windows click on continue any way and install it
