The person who suggested throwing it out is not going to be any friend of mine. Going to Boots is an idea for UK residents, but let me give you another suggestion. My wife died at an early age. I want to enhance and reproduce photographs of her. I will do so using products such as AC DC, photoshop; there are many others. I have not decided which system to use yet. The message I am trying to give is: Have the image scanned and then use your own PC to enhance it.

May I suggest you scan it and keep a copy of the original as is just in case a photoshop screws the photo up.

Most photo developing places can fix it for you (i.e., give you a new retouched copy of the photo).

There are many services out there that will scan an old photo and repair it digitally. Alot of photo shops provide this service.

If you are rich, Adobe Photoshop can be used to fix it. If you are broke, download a good linux distro, and it includes Gimp, a free one, which will also do it. Alas, most of us just don't have the talent to do it well. That's why the recommendation to pay someone if you don't have a buddy to do it for you, after you scan it.
