What's The Difference Between A Computer Software Engineers And A Computer Programmer?

It varies from company to company, and often there is alot of overlap. (IE programmers design sometimes and engineers do coding sometimes) I think officially though a good comparison would be construction. Software engineers are like the architects and programmers are like the builders.

programmers are brainless people(no offense) who jus do the coding.. they shud be called coders infact..

Computer software engineers actually determine what the specific needs of computer user's are. They then design, construct, test and monitor software and computer systems. Programmers are responsible for 'telling' the
computer how to function according to what the engineer has designed. They code, line by line, instructions into the computer making it run.
engineers develop the software; programmers guide and maintain it.
I think of the engineer working more at the design level.
