how do i prevent from getting virus when using limewire?

i only use Limewire to download music and nothing else.

    Well my suggestion is: don't use limewire..it is full of spyware. There are a couple of really good music programs that you can download music from for free. One is www.bearshare.com the other is www.morpheus.com I recommend Morpheus. No spyware, no viruses.

    i have a nice way. DONT USE WINDOWS. If you use filesharing, which i recommend against, run it on linux, through a windows emulator (wine). linux won't react to windows viruses.

    get either avast and or avg there both freeware and they have worked great for me

    Learn Linux and use----slax Live boot CD with the Limewire Mod or Frostwire Mod..... Live Linux CD's are immune to viruses since they are Not running from your HD. You will also need to learn how to save your work..that's another story.... If you really are sick of viruses ---ditch windows all togeather.

    It is not what you download with limewire but, from who you download. You don't know the sites or people you are downloading from and many of them are punk kids that want to infect computers because they are bored and have little or no parental supervision. It is their way of getting even with their parents. This is what Microsoft Security said they discovered after finding chat rooms and forums these kids hang out on.

    There's really only one thing: Most songs are, on average, 3.5MB. Most viruses are in the 176KB area. If you are only downloading songs, don't download any song less than 1MB, as it will most likely be a virus. Limewire is safe to use as long as you know what you're doing, and dont let any one tell you "just dont use limewire".

    by using limewire, it will add spyware to ur computer....what u should do is run whatever anti virus program that u have on ur computer after each use of limewire

    If you download mp3s only you won't get any viruses. Try Frostwire which is a derivative of Limewire(same functions but less fake files) http://www.frostwire.com
