   DELETE DELETE DELETE!!! just get rid of all the files and programs that you don't need and don't use. A better way is just getting an external hard drive(costs money) and putting everything onto it without deleting anything

   Start by deleting your cookies. - go to Control Panel - Internet Options - than click Delete Cookies. You can also use Disk Cleanup. - go to My Computer - right click on main hard drive - go to Properties - click Disk Cleanup This should calculate and then tell you what to do from there. This is only a few things you can do. there is alot more.

   I assume you have (anti-) spyware programs (e.g., Spybot and Ad-awere)--run them Defragment your hard drive. Use disk cleanup and/or ccleaner. I downloaded CCleaner into my new computer today; by new, I mean a couple of months old (7). It found 4000+ files, logs, etc. to delete (340MB). Windows is famous for keeping a record of eveythin--logs from your firewall, error reports. etc.

   Klo-Jann: You can do a Disk Cleanup (< System Tools < Accesories < All Programs < Start) and Disk Defragmenter one after the another. You can delete your Temporary Files (Tools > Internet Options > press Alt+F).

   More space - delete music, video, photos, and programs you don't use or want. Free up some hard drive space. More speed - shut off all programs you don't need running and close all windows you are not using. Programs running in the background eat ram. Defrag regularly.

   by defragmenting your hard disk, uninstall unused / old program, share part your hardisk as virtual memory, eliminate temporary file,often close your windows well every time u turn off your pc,kill all the virus inside your computer (some virus are mean to slow down windows speed ) if u hesitate to uninstall / erase your old program, but expect to get fast speed / more space without add memory/hard disk,just dream on baby.... is hard to make it happen.

   Well, the 'free' and 'no charge' make that a bit of a challenge. You're pretty much left with clearing all the old crap off of your computer you don't need, and then defragging the hard disk. If you want to get a bit more hard core, then totally repartition and reformat the drive, and reload all your software. If you've been running the same setup for a while, that will often give you a noticeable boost. And you will have also cleared out anything you didn't bother to back up.

    Go to the command prompt and type "format C:\" and click enter. Once that is done, download a Linux Distro installer to a CD from another computer and install Linux. Your free space should be near the maximum and your OS speed will go up.

    cheap ass, delete programs you arent using then do a disk clean up and defrag it.
