DELETE DELETE DELETE!!! just get rid of all the files and programs that you don't need and don't use. A better way is just getting an external hard drive(costs money) and putting everything onto it without deleting anything

You can do a Disk Cleanup (< System Tools < Accesories < All Programs < Start) and Disk Defragmenter one after the another.

More space - delete music, video, photos, and programs you don't use or want. Free up some hard drive space.
More speed - shut off all programs you don't need running and close all windows you are not using. Programs running in the background eat ram.

Well, the 'free' and 'no charge' make that a bit of a challenge. You're pretty much left with clearing all the old crap off of your computer you don't need, and then defragging the hard disk. If you want to get a bit more
hard core, then totally repartition and reformat the drive, and reload all your software. If you've been running the same setup for a while, that will often give you a noticeable boost. And you will have also cleared out
anything you didn't bother to back up.
