Some kind of problem with dreamweaver 8?

I am having a problem with my dreamweaver8. I was working in DW and when ever i put code into the code section nothing was showing up in the preview section. when i preview the page in the IE browser everything shows up properly tho. I'm also having a problem with div layers. instead of being able to cutomise their shape they only show up as a box that is one line long (taking up the width of the preview screen) and is only one line high. I got a warning pop up when i started DW that said something about a cache problem, but its not to do with my browser, something on my hard drive. is there anyway to fix this, or should i just reformat the HD. i have also reinstalled DW8 and cleaned out the regKeys before reinstalling it.

    Ok, first off - when you make changes in code view, you have to refresh it to see the changes in visual mode. F5 or the reload (looks like two arrows circling). Test and code for Firefox, then tweak (and sometimes break) for IE. Div's are automatically like that until you define their width and height. They spread across the screen because they're block level, and they only go down as far as the content... unless you tell it otherwise. The cache problem is when you make changes outside of Dreamweaver - moving, editing, etc. It has to take a look and see what's new. It's a normal operation, and a good thing. It's still advisable for you to do the normal maintainence - virus and spyware scans, cleaning out stuff you don't use like saved documents and programs, and defragging your hard drives. Seriously - Get Firefox. With the Adblock Plus, Web Developer, Greasemonkey and Stylish extensions, your going to love it!
