Video Editing??

2006-08-04 01:53:35, Category: Programming & Design
I own a Dell-Dimension 8400 with a high-end motherboard and 165 Gigs in an original harddrive. Have the Pinnacle version 10 complete with many nice purchased plug-ins, etc. Two questions, I am ready to find and install a 300 Gig (second harddrive (internal) and I have a long list of preps to perform in order to make uploading and editing video effeciently, all pretty much understood or understandable for me......however, is there anyone who lived these operations and can throw me some coaching-bones before I go internally and also when it comes to settings when one disables all applications except for the two I need to edit video, etc. I hope my half wited questions make sense to the right person out there! Any help in these areas will be highly applauded by me and my project....(A cool new ZOMBIE movie!!) Thanx!!

Hi, My advice for you is: 1. Install additional memory. To work in video editing you need much memory. 1GB Minimum for optimal work. 2. Choose good video editing software to work with. I prefer Adobe premier. 3. Choose good video capturing device. I want to publish you videos to the Internet then you can start with TV quality devices or if you want to export your movies to DVDs then choose DVD capturing devices or in this situation you can use your fire-wire connection in your computer to capture your videos from DVD camcorders or VCR. If you want to export your movies as Video Cd's then you can choose video quality capturing devise. 4. For faster work choose devices with hardware rendering capabilities. 5. I suggest pinnacle products for video editing. visit their web site at: http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Products+List.htm I hope that I've answered your question.

I do this ALL the time. In fact I have about 10 internal hard drives sitting on my desk right now. (I have a IDE mobile rack so I can pop them in and out no problem). Its really easy. Just plug the hard drive into your computer (make sure its off)(4 pin power plus the IDE cable or SATA cable which ever kind you bought). Turn on your computer. If you have WinXP, go to Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Computer Management. Near the bottom there's a Disk Management icon. Click on that. If you plugged your hard drive in properly it should come up in the window on the right. Right Click on your new hard drive and chose Initialize Disk. Then right click again on the hard drive and chose format (Quick format will be fine). Go through the Format Wizard and you'll be fine. Good Luck

for video editing adobe premire is a good one. for smooth editing you need a memory of 512 or 1gb. if u have a firewire device, u can capture video in higher quality using firewire card or buy an advanced capture card having good quality. if u r aiming at professional video editing please enquire about firewire capturing.
