Core Duo technology enables your laptop to multi-task much better and improves response times eg. when you're listening to music, running a virus scan, and surfing the internet at the same time. Definitely get a laptop with Core Duo. If possible, get the 2400 or 2500 model. But if you're not in a hurry, I'd suggest waiting for the next generation of CPUs soon to be released. These are the 64-bit CPUs. And wait for the release of Windows Vista to be packaged with your laptop.

The Centrino (who's dual-core variant is known as the Centrino Duo) is an Intel platform, consisting of an Intel Core Duo processor, an Intel Chipset, and Intel Integrated Wireless 802.11b/g. The Core Duo is a mobile processor that improves on the Pentium M. The Core 2 Duo is Intel's first chip based on the Core Microarchitecture. It boasts the highest x86 performance seen to date, with impeccable performance-per-watt metrics -- perfect for mobile platforms.

the differences are much, with your laptop drop forget about worry breaking board is more flexible, with all the case broken the system continue to work, is superB, and dual processor with strong board

Centrino is just mobile technology, that allows you to roam wirelessly (wifi) tech. Core due is the latest chip technology, Pentiums newest fastest chips so best lapto will have both!

centrino is the technology which intel uses for thier line of laptops which include the pentium m processor, integrated graphics, and the wireless internet. the new centrino core duo includes the pentium m processor but with the dual core. that is the main difference between the two processors.

Wiki has some good info on this. BUT, in a nutshell. Centrino is Intel's blanket for a set of low voltage/low heat chipsets designed for laptops. A Core Duo is the latest whizbang processor from Intel. Kinda like Centrino=Car, Core Duo=Engine Since they don't/ haven't designated it a 'Centrino Duo' and they say that they are out now, I'd say to be on the lookout for the specfic logo. (See intel link)
