    Basically, You can build a basic financial system with MS Excel, but it is a very manual system. You can build worksheets that act as each register or sub-ledger which provides details of sales, A/R, A/P, Cash. The transactions in these ledgers provide detail in financial statements. The most difficult thing to do is an inventory system because there are so many seperate transactions occuring in a monthly cycle.
