The calendar you are speaking of - is under "System Restore" and can be accessed by going into "All Programs" - "Accessories" ... and then "System Tools" ... therein you will find the "calendar" you speak of ... where you can go back 2-3-4-5 days - after which follow the instructions by Microsoft - and again - if more help is needed - go to Start - and click on "Help and Support" ... inside the Search box - type system restore ... and Microsoft gives much information pertaining to this subject, simple enough (smile) to follow! IF that does not work - there is another method you can use, but personally I question whether this would help you ... as these sound as if these are changes that altho were made to your comptuer, the computer still "works" ... but occasionally, I will turn my computer off and on and off and on ... until eventually I get (sometimes it takes 2-3-4-5 frustrating times to do this) ... but eventually - as the computer begins to "start up" with the black screen, etc., PRIOR to the "Blue Desktops" that begin with users listed, etc. (XP), when showing a black screen, watch carefully after you have just continued turning the computer off and on ... as suddenly and quickly a "graph bar" will start quickly and furiously across the screen - and BEFORE it has COMPLETED, you must QUICKLY HIT "F8" ... the prompt that tells you you have "succeeded in this turning off and on" to get to this point is that you will see above the "graph" "Resuming Windows" .. and once you press F8, the computer then comes up with a screen with 2 options: 1 is to continue with Windows; and the second is to "Restore settings back to the last working restoration point" ... but as shared above - I DO NOT THINK this will help you, as it is for a computer that has "corrupted itself" by or from something, and wil then go back to the last "working configuration" .. And lastly - but again - I do NOT think this will help you either ... but worth the "knowledge" and perhaps a try: Turn the computer off; turn it on - OR RESTART - makes no difference - and as SOON as it is ON - hit and KEEP HITTING "F8" .. this will eventually bring you to SAFE MODE .. and if it DOES NOT - RESTART AGAIN - and IMMEDIATELY - and I do mean IMMEDIATELY - do not even "breath" (smile) .. but as soon as the computer has been "restarted" - keep punching your ole index finger (or whichever finger) on the "F8" key ... and EVENTAULLY and soon - you will see the computer warn you it is going into "SAFE MODE" - and then a box to check that you are aware it is in Safe Mode, and then another "black and white screen" ... and THAT screen has approx 10 options on it ... some of which I have NEVER USED ... And too - I do not know what "configurations" - toolbars, etc. you wish to undo, or what you mean by the toolbars being "all mixed up" ... as there are ways to fix toolbars also ... Anyway - there is, in the Safe Mode Congifuration, also a prompt, as is shared above with the"same F8" key - but a different method of reaching a "different mode" - in that of "Creating a New Restoration Point" .. In Safe Mode it allows you to press the arrow (up down keys) to the selection you wish and then press "enter" ... and there is a selection for directing the comptuer to use the most recent working configuration - but it is slightly different" than "creating a new restoration point ... but a 3rd option to perform what you may be searching for ... I would guess - from what you share - that the best bet would be the first - the "System Restore" - which is the "calendar" you are referring to ... and then there is the LAST DITCH EFFORT - and sometimes WELL WORTH IT ... PERFORM A CLEAN INSTALL ... and if you need instructions as to "how to do this" - email me - I will help you with it. For the last 9 months I have a new computer, a Sony, and I do NOT have to go through Microsoft's Steps for a Clean Install, but I have all steps typed and easily accessible to me ... but with my Sony computer, it came with a "program" to perform a Clean Install, thus, not having to do all the steps that Microsoft requires be done. And again - I have all the steps - and know how to do this; and YOU MAY HAVE TO REVERT TO PERFORMING A CLEAN INSTALL ... OR - you can write me and share with me EXACTLY what you are in need of, prefer, and have to change ... to get your computer "back to the way you like it" ... And this is one reason I won't even let my hubbie "play" with "my" computer ... we love each other dearly - but he who touches "my" comptuer ... (smile) ... "dies"! (Smile!) I simply do not let ANYONE touch my computer - for just the reason of what you are now dealing with - and that is someone getting on it and changing your configurations .. how rude! Anyway - I hope this helps - it's a lot of info to absorb, I know - but I do hope it helps!

If you have activated system restore, you can just access it through the start menu, start, accessories, system tools, system restore, otherwise you're boned. Sorry.

Go To the START button, then all programs, then accessories, then system tools, then at the bottom--system restore. Go back as many days as needed there should be restore points here and there even if you did not create them yourself--windows creates them periodically if you have this default option set if not, rt click on the tool bar and see if it gives you move options. It can also be drug and dropped (or clicked and dragged), however. this "friend" may have changed more important things than just display options -- so it is best to use System Restore.
