How does the computer display the date and time when windows starts even if there is no power supply

Does it contain any inbuilt watch and also a software that reads the time from the watch and displays it on the screen? Please clarify my doubt.

It's called a CMOS battery and it will eventually go bad and need to be replaced. When your system stops keeping the date and time, that means it's time to replace.

There is a battery, about the size of a dime (like a watch battery) on the motherboard of your computer.

Actually it's call a CMOS battery. In earlier computers, it didn't just keep track of time but also kept track of important booting information. When some older computers have a hard time booting and you have to reconfigure things each time, the first thing you would do is see if it was losing time - because it was a sign you needed a new battery. With the newer computers, I believe it just tracks time and date....

Its due to CMOS Battery provided by your motherboard manufacturer. Important system settings like Date, Time, Booting Sequence, Numlock On/Off at startup etc. are stored in CMOS. When your PC is switched off, these settings are saved powered by the battery.

There is a component on the motherboard called "CMOS." CMOS is the component which is responsible for keeping time for the computer. CMOS has its own battery; therefore, it doesn't need the computer to be on for it to keep time.
