my laptop (dell inspiron) only works when its plugged into the wall no matter how long i charge it.?

when i turn it on a message comes up that says it cant identify the charger cord, this is the charger cord that came with the computer and has worked perfectly for 6 months until i went on vacation for 1 month and now it doesnt work when i came back. what should i do?

    I had that happen too. I contacted Dell and got a new charger the next day under warranty
