I've used my recovery disk a few times to fix stuff on my laptop. Now I want to totally re configure my hard drive. Mostly because I thought that each time I've run the disk its mabe putting another version of the same things on my computer.Meaning, Im stacking extra stuff on top of or around the orignial configureation? I think.I dont know, Im kinda computer retarded so to speak. I do know that my performance has gotten very slow and I have done the basic things nessary to clean it up to no avail. Whada Think?

Reconfiguring should be sort of a last resort. No you are not stacking up multiple versions of your IE but you may have unfound virus, which would explain your browser slowing. Go to AVG or Panda, or Symantec and find and run free scans. This should give you some idea what your problem is. Symantec will do a free security as well as a free virus scan. It will most likely NOT cure anything unless you pay and download the software, but still, better the devil you See.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Computer Slow Download and then run startup.exe (FREEWARE) at: http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml...... Can't live without it and windows... Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need. Other things to try: 1 - Disk Cleanup (removal of temp files, cookies, etc.) 2 - Defrag 3 - Registry Cleanup (CAN BE VERY RISKY!) ALL ELSE FAILS - RELOAD YOUR O/S (WINDOWS) AND THEN REINSTALL ALL OTHER PROGRAMS YOU NEED/USE! Joe... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Computer Virus/Spyware/Adware/Malware/etc All FREE... Download and then run Avira AntiVir Personal Edition Classic at: http://www.free-av.com/ Download and then run Spybot - Search & Destroy at: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ Download and then run Ad-Aware SE Personal at: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ Joe... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really get a kick out of these "experts" that try to answer questions that make absolutely no sense. Stacking extra stuff on top of or around???? Are we building sandwiches here, or what? This is really pretty funny. Now I am really going to confuse you. Put your WINDOWS CD in your CD drive and boot from that and do a fresh installation of Windows. Yes, that is really all you need to do. Also, I hope you are smart enough to back up your files before you do this but I doubt it. All you do when you use a "recovery disk" is muck up your computer.
