Anybody Know Why An Older HP Computer Beeps During Re-Boots?
A lady friend's old HP beeps fast like an alarm clock and won't reboot unless a key is pressed.
Older machines had a POST, Power-on-Self-test, and depending upon it's results of testing the basic peripherals, it supplied beeps. These beeps are in most cases, a code which tells you the results. By memory, my own that is, two short beeps means all tested okay. More or different beeps means something failed. Keyboard; memory; something.
There should be a displayed error message if it requires a key action to continue after fail.

See the section on beeps. Sounds like power supply; system board; or keyboard problem, but look at it and listen and count beeps.
